Basis of the edition

The present edition is based on the photographs available at the Mainzer Photoarchiv of the Hethitologie Portal Mainz, as well as the available hand-copies and relevant secondary literature up to 2019. When the original manuscripts have been collated, this is noted in the commentary.

Commentary

This interesting fragment differs from the usual cult inventories insofar as it preserves pret. sg. 1 verbal forms, perhaps pertaining to a deposition of personnel or to an account of inventorying operations. The text reports on measures related to restorations of festivals, temples, and offerings for the gods in one or more towns; line l. col. 7′ seems to refer to an archival cross-check, cf. e.g. KUB 42.100+. The content and style, especially in the right column, are perfectly compatible with a classification as cult inventory, although of a peculiar kind (cf. KUB 38.35 for an analogous case). There seems to be no compelling argument for a classification as historical text (differently Carter 1962: 16).

l. col. 5′, 12′: The word may be restored either as daššuwa or āššuwa; the traces seem to fit the former option better.
